A Bachelor of Policing provides an incite into the intricate and delicate tasks for police men and woman, whom dedicate their lives to protecting society.

Although, a Bachelor of Policing does not guarantee you a job into the Police Force Academy, as such I think it is cruel for the university to offer an illegitimate course.

My advice to future students - A Bachelor of Policing is an excellent decision/choice if that is the specific field you're looking to join. However, don't settle so quickly. Look at other options!

Positives: In the beginning the structure of the course and the units were amazing, lectures and tutorials weekly, which is great if you struggle with self motivated learning, most tutors are amazing from what I’ve experienced so far

Negatives: They’ve changed the course structure to workshops fortnightly and it’s horrible, myself being hardly motivated at all meant that I often forgot that I had class and forgot about assignments

My advice to future students is: Stay motivated, stay on top of everything and then you’ll be fine !

Positives: The positives are that it gives you a broader outlook on what exactly can be expected as a police officer, the things you really would not know of just by simply thinking of it. Another positive aspect is that the degree doesn’t just give you the qualifications to be a police officer, it can provide you with many more avenues

Negatives: That it can sometimes be confronting with some of the things you do read or have assignments on, such as cases dealing with sexual assaults that go into far detail. But that’s what prepares you in some sense.

My advice to future students is: Go for it, don’t hesitate on taking that first step. Not only does it give you a higher ranking when applying for police force, it definitely prepares you for the future instead of being thrown into the deep end. Not only that, if you get half way and realise being a police officer is not for you, you still have further opportunities elsewhere.
