Positives: Meeting people with similar interests and aspirations as myself as well as discovering opportunities in the field regarding employment
Negatives: Some units I didn’t find enjoyable
My advice to future students is: Don’t be afraid of university and opportunities that will arise from it, don’t be confined to your comfort zone
Positives: Some of the units (Networking Essentials/Routing and Internetworks/Web Systems) are very practical and hands on. They allow you to configure routers and create your own websites too
Negatives: Most of the lecturers and tutors have a very strong accent, which makes it hard to understand them. Also, some of them seem like they are not enthusiastic about the course, which makes the subjects feel quite boring. Many of the subjects i've done also rely on the students teaching themselves most of the content.
My advice to future students is: Make friends early on during the course, Stay on top of chapter readings!!
Positives: The positives meeting like minded people who are also on the journey to success. It's also an environment where people can just be themselves. I personally enjoy this course because it's also a place to explore what you're looking as a career
Negatives: There are significant amounts of study load. but as is with any major studies. There are some teachers who have a language barrier, so despite them speaking in English, we may necessarily not understand them
My advice to future students is: Just go for it. Take every opportunity you get and just be yourself. Don't hold back
Positive aspects were a few subjects were great. We got to do an internship, and run our own real event which was great.
However the negatives far outweighed the positives for me. So many of the subjects were completely useless and irrelevant to events. I graduated without knowing really how to run an event or do anything really. I wish the course had taught us how to use software that is used in the industry. Honestly the course felt like a bit of a waste of time.
My advice to future students is: Consider whether you need a uni degree or if tafe would be better because in my opinion tafe would have been the best option for me instead of uni
The subjects and course work was really interesting most of the time. The lecturers and tutes were really engaging and knew so much about the industry. They're great sources of information and ideas so spend time getting to know them. It teaches you how to approach working in this area in an appropriate way.
My advice to future students is: It can be a very stressful course when it comes to deadlines. Make sure you're prepared and submit your work on time.
The course is quite broad and covers a large array and content relevant to multiple specific/niche fields. However, it is done with a lackluster effort of engagement.
My advice to future students is: Ensure that the course is right for you. Do your research before you consider enrolling.
Positive: great facilities with lots of hands on experience as part of the course.
Negative: not so good uni life compared to other unis
My advice to future students is: ensure proper work life balance to make the most out of uni life
Uni's campus is fantastic. Professor's formation is outstanding also
Too many exams, I think that nowadays education should be more dynamic
My advice to future students is: I'd say Uni is a long distance race, where you have to keep your pace constant and watch out every step.
The degree is a huge help to find a job afterwards
Positive they help you make friends and lectures are pretty straight forward
Negative is it's four days a week
My advice to future students is: Make sure you do all readings and read student outline before you start
Positive : Great range of subjects and majors available. There's a good learning space and learning resources.
My advice to future students is: Make sure you get involved in uni life if you want to get the most out of your Uni experience.
