Positives: social life!
Negatives: the people
My advice to future students is: do not take it unless you are good at maths
Positives: There was a good mix of theory and practice
Negatives: There is no opportunity to specialise
My advice to future students is: Focus on gaining as much relevant work experience as possible and build up your contacts because connections are important
Positives: Flexibility to study what you want, lots of electives.
Lots of opportunity for industry engagement and leadership experience
Lots of opportunity to study abroad and do short term programs
Negatives: Some tutors and lectures aren’t that great. Content can be repetitive in some units
My advice to future students is: Always take every opportunity to get involved as the uni has lots and lots of things for you to do aside from your degree
Positives: The tutorials/labs allow us to flesh out concepts (be they practical or theoretical). The course also offers a good skill set offering students several options when it comes to considering job opportunities in media fields
Negatives: The lectures are generally weak and don't offer anything new beyond set readings or tutorials
My advice to future students is: I would say to take the more theoretical units seriously. Once you hit practical stuff like video or radio it becomes more apparent why you need that knowledge. Retain those notes!
Positives: triple major opportunities, wide range of areas of study. Combines Arts degree with critical analytical thinking in an Economics degree
Negatives: Poor organisation of lecture material, insufficient feedback, lack of quality lecturers (with good public speaking skills)
My advice to future students is: Understand your strengths in economic theory, and learn more about potential job opportunities based on the subjects you wish to do
Positives: Support services, engaging teachers and relevant content
Negatives: Assessment schedules got chaotic and sometimes too much was expected given the readings that were given
My advice to future students is: Do what you love
Positives: Good content sometimes.
Negatives: Elitism. Inconsistent marking. Lecturers showing favouritism.
My advice to future students is: Be prepared for an elitist university experience.
Positives: great cohort, like minded people, generally good teaching staff, good assignments
Negatives: Relevance of some courses, way some courses were taught
My advice to future students is: Be prepared to put in the work!
Positives: The teachers are good, classes are mostly entertaining
Negatives: Some of the assessment tasks are dreadful and complete waste of time
My advice to future students is: Actually do the readings
They help with work
Positives: I loved the classes and the tutors - they’re always interesting and the tutors are always willing to help
Negatives: Nothing haha I’ve really enjoyed everything
My advice to future students is: Get as involved as possible with societies and activities
