Positives: The course combines a lot of interest areas together and provides a lot of variety to keep students interested. Students get to engage in everything from science to environmental management to law. The course prepares you well for the workforce and is a niche degree, which means its easier to get a job upon graduation because so few people do this course. Its good for anyone interested in a multidisciplinary program.
Negatives: It is a VERY small degree - only about 15 people in total in my 'year level'. This makes it difficult to make friends in your course and also means that there are limited people to study with and collaborate with as in other degrees. Especially in first year it can kind of just feel like a science degree and many of the foundational subjects you have to do have little relevance to your degree. Most of the lecturers are good but you do get the occasional one who is very out of touch with students and seems to lack passion for the subject. Also some of the content can be very boring and focused solely on regulations which is not very riveting.
My advice to future students is: I would recommend future students consider if this is the type of degree that they really want to do. It has a heavy science aspect and can get very repetitive at times. Future students should also be comfortable with working independently as making friends in tough. The good thing about this degree is that you can take it into so many different fields - everything from working for a construction company to working on a film set, the opportunities are endless and this profession is in high demand!
