There is an an array of opportunities to major in numerous courses, such as civil or
One negative is the total contact hours required, however, this is necessary to understand the content.
My advice to future students is: Attending O Week is a must as it allows you to get your bearings around the campus and understand the requirements of the course, as well as other Uni offerings
I'm doing a Mechanical and Materials Engineering double major
Engaging lecturers and access to interesting extracurricular activities.
Inconsistent teaching quality between subjects.
My advice to future students is: Consider doing the subjects in a different order to what is suggested in the course plan. Plan ahead to study abroad and take advantage of all possible financial support.
Positives: The course itself has answered all my requirements and developed my knowledge to fit the ground running with some contacts in the mining industry I hope to get an opportunity in coming weeks.
Negatives: The length of the course, could of paused I felt having some on the job experience and training before tackling the next semester
My advice to future students is: Continue to battle on/push through, there are times that it got difficult for me, I reached out to peers and networked through personal engineers already in the paying working field to continue through the course and came out on the other side stronger as one.
Positives: Developing black spots in. My knowledge prior to undertaking the course
Negatives: Length of the course
My advice to future students is: Engage early with peers and businesses to see where they interact with what you learn vs what is used in the working industry
The Bachelor of Engineering degree delivered at The University of Queensland is very challenging but equally rewarding because the assessment expectations are very high. The degree starts out with a great balance between group projects and generalized prerequisite theory & mathematics. There is an excellent variety of engineering disciplines which can then be transitioned into from 2nd year right through to specialization subjects in the mandatory honours in the 4th and final year. I recommend the course to anyone who is satisfactory in basic calculus and has the desire and work ethic to become and Engineer.
