About the University of Queensland

The University of Queensland (UQ) has one main St Lucia campus which is an inner city suburb of Brisbane.

We have UQ reviews across a range of topics, including Business, Science, Law, Humanities, Health and Engineering.

University of Queensland reviews from students often talk about the campus and recommend attending lectures and tutes (and rate the teaching staff highly!). Some students recommend future students balance the theoretical parts of a course with looking at practical work.

Positive - This is a modern course (setup) with job and network opportunities
Negative - I found the first two years contained a lot of useless content

My advice to future students is: Do a dual degree, diversify, and make sure you’re in a degree you enjoy doing

The studying methodology is quite different from the one in my home country. The courses can be chosen as per the flexibility of the student and the course is set up as per industry standards. UQ has a great reputation and it is ranked in the top 50 universities of the world.

However, it is difficult to adjust to the different studying environment and the faculty might not be able to help out students. I wasn't able to get the scholarship and that made the course quite expensive for me.

My advice to future students is: Attend the classes regularly, don't treat studying as a huge obstacle, keep interacting with your peers, advisors and faculty. Also, make use of the opportunities provided by the university. Try your best to study and interact with community and you will excel

Negatives: there is no fixed campus building for business so students has to travel a lot around the campus to get to the lectures and tutorials. There wasn't enough intern opportunities in the course

Positives: Year 3 modules has a variety of specialisations that other uni's do not provide, course structure has a mixture of open discussion learning and theories

My advice to future students is: Do some research to understand your future desire and ask around to see what specialization you want to be in

Positives: Covers broad aspects and knowledge

Negatives: Not really useful for real work-life

My advice to future students is: If your job doesn't require a university degree, don't do it.

Positives: Students work well with each other and independently organise study sessions

Negatives: None
