I major in Mechanical Engineering.

The course takes a lot of hard work to complete. But afterwards you learn a way of thinking about problems such that you can develop solutions to them within a range of certain criteria.

You learn how to think.

My advice to future students - To get good results it's all about time management, simply putting the time in the study a few hours a day will go a long way.

I major in Mechanical Engineering.

Positive: a lot of support from teachers, interesting content, a lot of practical work too, fun social clubs like NU Racing, a lot of support for mental health

Negative: Not a lot of support for females - this is getting better but sometimes I feel alienated or like other students don't want me in their group because Im female and stereotypically cant do things or aren't supposed to be intelligent.

My advice to future students - Be honest to yourself and who you are. Everyone is dealing with their own stuff at uni and don't compare yourself to others. Its okay to not enjoy a course, but do something about it rather than locking yourself into a career path that you wont enjoy. If you need help, don't be afraid to ask - what are you going to lose?

I'm majoring in Chemical Engineering.

Positives that there is a lot of job prospects in the industry I’m studying and that my degree has a fantastic turn out rate for employment.

Negatives of my course would be that there is minimal places for people to do work experience in specific industries.

My advice to future students is: My advice to future students to always make sure you attend all your tutorials and labs. I believe you get the best learning outcomes from these and missing out can have a major impact for studies.

I'm majoring in Civil Engineering.

Positives: Civil course provides a challenge to individuals who are seeking to understand the environment around us and provide a scientific answer and solution to most problems

Negatives: Sometimes the course are too compact, with lecturers whom are not fluent in English. This makes it hard for the student to understand and apply this knowledge to the field in most cases, and are forced to learn most materials themselves.

My advice to future students is: Stick with it, push through and make sure you don't fall behind.

I find Uni.. Its good, little tough as I live overseas without my parents, so I gotta hustle to get things done.

Positives: The course was diverse, some of the courses are advance so it is quite interesting to learn new things.

Negatives: The course was supposed to be taught in long period of time, but instead they cram lots of information together, and expect us to remember everything after we graduate.

My advice to future students is: I wish that someone had told me to STUDY EVERY DAY, and NO dont waster time in parties, enjoying yourself , cuz you're in Uni now, get your act together.
