Positives: While I am studying I gain more confidence on subjects and a new of online learning skills and resources are always help me to pass the subjects.
Negatives: They should provide more quality ITP projects to students and they should introduce internships.
My advice to future students is: It’s a great university for new students with lots of online and offline resources, on campus facilities and everything is great here for students and we should use all the resources and achieve success in the future.
Positives: meeting new people and learning new things every week
Negatives: half of the topics seem useless and don’t interest me
My advice to future students is: pick something you’re passionate in if you don’t know what you want to do and you might find a career in it eventually
Positives: Positive aspects would include the two clinical placements that are involved which are an excellent opportunity to provide students with practical experience in the work force under supervision. There are also two practical subjects in third and fourth year that are about improving communication skills and and interviewing skills.
Negatives: The first year core subjects seemed like a waste of time when i was in classes with students from other courses like nursing and OT students. These were costly and i felt as though we did not learn anything valuable. Although the placements are amazing there are for 3 months full time and are unpaid which makes it incredibly hard to earn money during this time.
My advice to future students is: To work hard during uni and earn as money as you can so that when placement comes you can support yourself.
Positives: One main positive aspects of this course is that it had only 45 credits per semester, which means I had to do only 3 subjects per semester. This made the assignments easier to complete. This course is well designed and covers only the relevant subjects required for ICT.
Negatives: One negative aspect of this course was the help from faculty. I did not receive much help from the faculty for doubts or assignments and I had to complete most of the course independently.
My advice to future students is: This is a good course as it is easy and involves lesser subjects. However, please have a look into the faculty before enrolling into this one.
Positives: Some of the positive aspects of this course are:
1. Course structure was well designed and covered most of the topics in IT
2. The course was flexible and I was given options to select the subjects that I like and interests me
3. Learnt about non technical aspects like giving presentations, giving talks, how to write a literature review and a thesis
Negatives: Some of the negative aspects of this course are:
1. Some of the topics in the subjects are very specific to a particular scenario than a general learning
2. The project work did not generate a positive outcome as the faculty was not serious about the projects done by the students ad many projects just went to waste and was never deployed or used anywhere.
My advice to future students is: Some advise I would like to give future students are:
1. Research on the course outcomes and learning before enrolling.
2. Read through the subject guide to ensure that it is exactly what you are looking for before enrolling into any of the subjects.
Positives: The core subjects cover a wide range of fields like HR, Invest, Finance etc.
Negatives: Lack of practical sides, such as how to specifically carry out a procedure in activity
My advice to future students is: Studying while working part-time and try to apply what you learn in your real working place
Positives: The course covers different subjects of Accounting and provides a level of academic knowledge to get students ready for their accounting career. Some subjects incorporates practical projects and teaches students about using accounting software like MYOB
Negatives: Some of the subjects are not really relevant to the course, especially the foundation subjects like Management and Marketing, which I felt like a waste of time as my main concern is Accounting
My advice to future students is: Master of Accounting from La Trobe university is a well-designed course for student with a bachelor background in Business/Commerce to enhance their knowledge in accounting/finance field. Each Accounting subject has a quite balance between theory and practice and students have many opportunities to engage in group assignments/projects. Upon completing the course, students complete some of the foundation subjects for CPA if they want to pursue accounting professionally in the future. Highly recommended course from La Trobe university.
Positives: Great fun
Negatives: Long time
My advice to future students is: STUDY
Positives: It’s not many days which means I can still work whilst studying, it’s not located in the city which means there isn’t much traffic getting to and from there and they have a flexible timetable which allows me to suit my studies
Negatives: The things I learn aren’t really relevant to me and I don’t enjoy being there because of it. I find it hard to wrap my head around the concepts and find it hard to get help
My advice to future students is: Try to get a tutor
Positives: It’s a really fun course so far. The teachers and course content is enjoyable.
Negatives: Time consuming - it requires a lot of hours - study time
My advice to future students is: Make sure you take it seriously and be prepared to study hard
