Positives: I have good people around me who help!
Negatives: The hecs debt
My advice to future students is: Work hard early and time management
Positives: A large campus with its own building focussing on Education. For most parts, the lecturers were friendly and supportive of students, especially those with full-time work and children. The tutorials provided students a chance to practice their skills in various subject areas and linked in well with the Arts components of the degree.
Negatives: Due to the size of the campus, traveling from an educational lecture to an art lecture on campus left you with little time to travel. Some inexperienced tutors tried to bully students into conforming to their beliefs on how a school setting should look, without having any previous experience in a classroom. Receiving feedback from some tutors took longer than described and often required follow up to find out the grade.
My advice to future students is: Before studying the degree research the available arts subjects so they can complement the educational side of your degree. An arts degree in sociology or women's studies may be of no benefit to a teacher who has year 1 students.
Positives: Fun assignments, chance to communicate with students of the same career goal
My advice to future students is: You can change your life at any time
Positives: This course is well set out and easy to follow through. It’s really good to be able to study education whilst being deeply involved with the college of science and engineering.
Negatives: It is quite demanding, the science side requires a lot of commitment
My advice to future students is: Make sure you have time, it really is a full time job.
I enjoyed the face to face study but the online face needed a bit of work
My advice to future students is: Stay committed. Never give up
