I'm doing this course online.

Positives: Spending the last term of study on a practicum placement was a great experience, it gave me a chance to really experience what work would be like as a teacher. It also gave me a chance to become a member of the school community and form relationships with other trenchers and students

Negatives: The units were quite technical to begin with, and require a high level of academic writing and how to research. While there are units available to improve with this, it didn’t offer enough support at times.
There was an inconsistency in marking between tutors and units, due to the online nature of the course

My advice to future students is: Undertake the offered units on academic writing. Make connections with local schools and undertake volunteer work if possible- practical application of the skills being built is very different to the theory that is taught, especially in the first 2 years of the course. Enroll in one unit at a time until you are familiar with the course workload

I'm doing this course online.

Positives: I undertake this course, purely online. The information and the layout of our studies each week are really clear and our access to our tutors and the discussion boards make it easier to be involved with our studies, just as much as if we were on campus in a physical classroom. The help and support that is provided by the University is positive and ensures that we feel supported through our studies.

Negatives: I couldn't fault the course. But if I were to say anything, I wish that we could do video link so we could see our Tutors/Peers as the fact that the course is purely online means that we have restricted access and visuals to the rest of our class. This would be the only restriction.

My advice to future students is: Be prepared to work really hard in this course. There is so much knowledge that you are expected to learn and the study load is quite large. Consider if you are an individual learner or if you learn best by collaborating with others. You have support and peers that are there through discussion boards but essentially you are on your own in your learning.

I'm doing this online.

Positives: Because a large portion is online, I can be a full time Uni student while being a Mum of 3 - two of which are Autistic which means a lot of my time is dedicated to paperwork, specialists , collaborating with school, SEP, specialists & advisors & learning how we can keep moving forward positively for them at school home & general life. It’s very time consuming so if it wasn’t for the Online assessments that can be in my own time (like 3am 😂) I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the course work.

Negatives: I don’t like how late they release the information on textbooks, exam dates and things like this that I need to plan early for.

My advice to future students is: Utilize everything that you are applicable to have access to. There is a community to help if you need, you just have to know where to look.

Positive - I did this course online so that I could also work full time and earn a living.
Negative - you need to be very disciplined and make time to go through course notes.

My advice to future students is: Get into a good routine where you set aside time each day for study to keep on top of it.

The overall positive for the course is the people you get to meet and the amount of resources related to the specific course given. The overall negative would be lack of communication about reports, assessments and practicals.

My advice to future students is: For potential students, don’t do a course that you think you want to do, make sure you want to do it. University is quite expensive and failing can cost you heaps.

I like the friendliness of the teachers and support members but I dislike their marking criteria and assignments that do not relate to the course (in my opinion)

My advice to future students is: If you really want to do something go for it! Don’t look back and keep charging ahead

Positives There is heaps of support both internally and externally but the negative would be sometimes the teachers provide little direction when it comes to assignments

My advice to future students is: Make sure you are prepared for every class and don’t just enrol in any subject - make sure you will see it through to the end

I'm doing this course online - The assignments are so heavy on percentage and very ambiguous.

My advice to future student - Only do this course if you had no other option. I do it online so I can work.
