Positives: It includes practicals every year to slowly introduce real-life teaching strategies and problem solving into the course. Ensuring that continual implementation of the strategies learnt throughout the course helps students to better understand and use the skills learnt in class.
Negatives: Some of the tutors focus on the whole content instead of the important essentials that are needed to pass the assignments to complete the course.
My advice to future students is: Keep up to date with the weekly class work and work on time management. Ensure that you have an effective balance between work, study and leisure
Positives: There is so much support readily available at any stage through my course if it’s needed.
My lecturers are very engaging and I get a lot out of my classes.
I love the material I’m learning and I find it all relevant and beneficial to my future career.
Negatives: Sometimes it’s difficult to reach out and contact lecturers outside of University hours.
My advice to future students is: As I’m only in my first year I don’t have a lot of experience but my number one piece of advice is work as hard as you can, commit to class work and start assignments with plenty of time to complete. This makes assessment time a lot easier
Positives: Getting to study something I love and always wanted to do
Having the chance to connect with people doing similar thing to me
Negatives: Distance ed you feel isolated and alone
My advice to future students is: Set time aside each week don’t leave things to last minute and choose a course you are genuinely interested in
Positives: Learning fundamental skills for not only aspects of education but human development
Negatives: None so far
My advice to future students is: Do the assignments when you get them!
Positives: Placement - Working with children in school environments
Negatives: Challenging course
My advice to future students is: Time management and choose a course in which you will enjoy
