Positives: The positive of the aspect for me included being able to be challenged in my studies. Not only being challenged on the theory side but being able to apply my knowledge and skills in a practical setting. Whilst doing this I was given continuous support from peers that I had meet along the way and from the teaching staff

Negatives: With any univeristy course the negative aspect for me was time and money. Studying can take up a lot of time within the first year leaving it very difficult to work and have an income. Also a negative aspect was completing 800 plus hours of clinical placements with no financial support. I found this very difficult to continue as having limited funds made it difficult to live.

My advice to future students is: Really study hard and enjoy the process ! It’s the best time before you step out into the real world. Use your placements to learn as much as you can ask lots of questions and make use of every resource available

Positive: small tight knit University, which gives the lecturers and tutors the opportunity to speak to students in person and build relationships. Also positive is the access to the simulation labs, both in class and when organised outside of class hours.

Negative: work placement was quick and few (when comparing to other universities) also negative was location and parking (or lack thereof)

My advice to future students is: Make the most of any help the tutors have to offer, ask more questions and involve yourself.

The staff are focused on ensuring the students have the best learning experience. They are always looking for ways to improve the content, classes and general running

Negatives: placements are not allocated based on the students home location, even though the uni say they do.

My advice to future students is: Work really hard for the first 3 years

The course layout over the four years is really good. It allows for adequate theory time and placement. There are a great amount of paediatric units, however there could be more information and detail in the adult units. I enjoy that the course is small and my lecturers know me on a first name basis, I find that allows for learning to be more tailored to me. I also enjoy that classes are both face-to-face and online.

My advice to future students is: Ensure that you are aware of placement commitments. They are vital to learning and a must pass component. Also understand that there is a significant work load and contact hours.

Positive - The small classes for tutes and practicals are really great - plenty of feedback and time with instructors. The course has extensive practical work which is really useful.

Negative - There's definitely a lack of university culture (in comparison to other Unis).

My advice to future students is: Background in health care and a gap year
